Early Learning Guidelines
Early Childhood NYC
About
  • The New York State Early Learning Guidelines is designed to help all early childhood professionals including directors, teachers, and providers.
  • The guidelines can help teachers be even more effective by providing information they need to make sound decisions about promoting the development and learning of young children and supporting their families. It is a resource for our teachers to refer to for information about how children develop and learn and ideas for activities.
      About
      • Teachers use the guidelines to individualize lesson plans for the children in their care. The New York State Early Guidelines has five domains with sub categories, within those sub categories it is broken down into more specific areas of development and skill. While teachers use these guidelines it helps to deepen their understanding of how children develop.
      • Teachers continue to learn how to respond to their readiness for new interactions, experiences, and challenges. Developmental Appropriate Practice along with the Early Learning Guidelines together structure our curriculum.
