About
  • Using the NYS Early Learning Guidelines, we ensure our older toddlers’ day consists of the right balance of structure and play.
What to Bring
About
In our older toddler classrooms, we continue to build on foundational skills. The daily schedules consist of longer periods for structured activities, and caregivers encourage more independence among the toddlers, while still individualizing for each child.

If a child shows interest and readiness to potty train, caregivers will begin to work with the toddler on a potty training routine.
Throughout the day, caregivers address emotions and encourage the children to express themselves and communicate through play. When conflicts arise, caregivers guide the older toddlers through problem solving steps. Friendships and cooperative play skills are constantly being developed.

Parts of the classroom routine are also dedicated to arts and crafts, more intensive sensory play, and gross motor activities. Early literacy skills are promoted through story read-alouds and group discussions. Letter recognition and sounds, climate and weather are just a few topics explored during circle time.
